Venice High School won the Science Bowl Regional Competition sponsored by the City of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (DWP) Saturday, February 26th.

Forty-two teams from 26 area public, private and parochial high schools participated.

The winning Venice “A” Team members are Andrew Bernstein, D’Amico Lorenzo, Nicole O’Keefe, Jonah Rosenthal and Seth Rotkin.

Richard Erdman is the team coach.

Each Venice team member will receive a $1,000 scholarship from Hitachi.

The high school will receive a trophy and $2,000 from the DWP to purchase science materials and equipment.

Competition subjects included computer science, biology, physics, earth science, chemistry, astronomy, mathematics and new technology.

The Venice team will represent Los Angeles at the U.S. Department of Energy National Science Bowl Thursday, April 28th, through Monday, May 2nd, in Washington, D.C.
