Venice Murder Possibly Gang-Related

A Venice man was killed last Thursday in what Los Angeles police believe may be a gang-related shooting.

Police responded to a 911 call of shots fired at 8:13 p.m. near Flower and 7th avenues in the Oakwood neighborhood of Venice, according to an LAPD bulletin.

The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Mark Gonzales, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

LAPD officer Helen Kim said that witnesses have reported seeing a Latino male in a dark blue hoodie drive away from the scene in a tan sports utility vehicle.
