Diners enjoy Taste of Abbot Kinney last year

Eclectic, eccentric, urban, cosmopolitan, cutting-edge — there are plenty of superlatives that describe Venice and its restaurant culture.
Find your own words on Sunday during the 5th annual Taste of Venice, a culinary walking tour highlighting some of the area’s best food and drink in support of the local youth education nonprofit Inside Out Community Arts.
Previously known as Taste of Abbot Kinney, the event allows participants to sample a wide range of signature restaurant dishes as well as wine, beer and cocktails. Other highlights include cooking demonstrations by various Venice chefs, live music and, during the VIP hour, presentations by Adam Gertler of The Food Network and Jet Tila of Iron Chef America.
Taste of Venice features a veritable who’s who of Venice’s epicurean elite, including Main Street sushi house Chaya Venice, Rose Avenue vegan hotspot Cafe Gratitude, Rose Avenue’s revered Groundwork Coffee Company and venerable Rose Café, plus Larry’s, Barlo, Hostaria del Piccolo, Piccolo Venice, Sauce on Hampton, Tasting Kitchen, Barnyard, Le Cellier and the hoppy Venice Ale House, among many others.
In keeping with its Abbot Kinney Boulevard roots, the walking/tasting tour includes Joe’s, Hal’s Bar & Grill, Pork Belly’s, Willie Jane, Feed Body & Soul, The Otheroom, Lemonade, Local 1205, Primitivo, Abbot’s Pizza and Tlapazola.
Noble Vines Wine, Goose Island Beer Co., Veev Cocktails, Goodbites Truffles and others will provide beverages and dessert treats.
The tasting tour is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, with reception and check-in at The Electric Lodge, 1416 Electric Ave., Venice. $65. A VIP reception ($110) takes place from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at The Electric Lodge.
