The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has announced closures of the eastbound and westbound Marina Freeway (State Route 90) connectors to the northbound San Diego Freeway (Interstate 405).
The Route 90 west connector will be closed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through Friday, March 21st.
The Route 90 east connector will be closed from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays through Friday, March 21st.
The closures, for electrical work and irrigation, are related to the $167 million High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) project on Interstate 405 in both directions from Route 90 to the Santa Monica Freeway (Interstate 10).
The project is expected to be completed in summer 2009, at which time the HOV lane on southbound Interstate 405 will be continuous from the San Fernando Valley through Orange County.
An HOV lane project on northbound Interstate 405 from the Santa Monica Freeway to the Ventura Freeway (U.S. 101) is currently in the environmental study phase and is expected to begin construction in 2009.
When that project is completed, which is expected to be in 2013, the HOV lane will be continuous in both directions from the San Fernando Valley through Orange County.
