The Wellness Community in Santa Monica, an organization that provides support and educational programs for people with cancer and their loved ones, plans to join television networks ABC, CBS and NBC, along with various cancer advocacy and support groups Friday, September 5th, for an event to raise money to accelerate groundbreaking cancer research.
“This is an exciting opportunity for us to be involved in such a collaborative effort that truly raises the bar for cancer research and funding,” said Ellen R. Silver, the Wellness Community-West Los Angeles executive director. “Finding a cure for cancer is at the forefront of our minds.
“But until there’s a cure there’s the Wellness Community, which provides a safe place for people affected by cancer to learn how to live their life to the fullest after this diagnosis. Our free programs increase hope and create a nurturing environment.”
The Wellness Community-West Los Angeles is part of an international nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support, education and hope to people with cancer and their loved ones. Through participation in professionally-led support groups, educational workshops, nutrition and exercise programs and stress-reduction classes, the Wellness Community aims to empower people affected by cancer to take an active role in their treatment or care giving.
The services are offered free of charge.
