The Wellness Community-West Los Angeles in Santa Monica raised more than $95,000 at its recent Friends of Wellness Annual Membership Luncheon.

Over 80 percent of the money raised will go directly toward providing programs that give valuable information, emotional support and hope to people affected by cancer, according to the Wellness Community.

“We are thrilled to have had the support of so many people in the community this year and we’re especially pleased to have had our most successful luncheon ever,” Wellness Community-West Los Angeles executive director Ellen R. Silver said. “Our honorees were gracious and well-deserving and the money raised will help us continue to provide free programs to the thousands of people who find support in our community in Santa Monica, the Los Angeles downtown corridor and Orange County.”

Approximately 320 guests attended this year’s luncheon at the Ritz-Carlton Marina del Rey.

The luncheon honored Shari Foos, a marriage and family therapist based in Santa Monica; Adrian Grant, a real estate agent at Prudential California Realty’s Beverly Hills office; and Michael States, a Pacific Palisades marriage and family therapist who has also been the Wellness Community’s clinical program director for about 18 years.

The Wellness Community-West Los Angeles was founded 25 years ago and was the first location of what has now become an international nonprofit organization.
