Registration will start the week of Monday, August 14th, for the Westchester-Emerson Community Adult School fall semester, which begins Tuesday, September 5th.
The school is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District Division of Adult and Career Education and is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
A variety of classes will be offered in art (calligraphy, oil painting, printmaking, and watercolor), computers, auto mechanics and other fields.
Also offered are programs in English as a second language (ESL), parenting and pharmacy technician training.
The pharmacy technician program will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday for ten months starting Tuesday, September 5th.
Students will receive classroom instruction and serve as interns at pharmacies or hospitals.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded a certificate of program completion and will be qualified to register for the California State Board of Pharmacy technician exam and license.
Westchester-Emerson officials said its pharmacy technician program students have a 97 percent pass rate and generally are able to find jobs immediately.
High school diploma courses are also offered through learning centers, where a teacher arranges study programs to meet an individual learner’s needs.
Westchester-Emerson has the authority to issue credit for high school courses, eighth-grade certificates and high school diplomas.
