Joann Duray has been appointed president of the Westchester Woman’s Club for the 2007-08 club year. Other Westchester Woman’s Club officers who were appointed include first vice president Carol L. Cole, in charge of programs; second vice president Sue Reichardt, in charge of membership; recording secretary Marjorie Zuelke; corresponding secretary Pat Binder; financial secretary Beverly Migliazzo; treasurer Natalina Chew, curator Jeanne-Marie Klocker; and parliamentarian Margaret Gowling.

The Woman’s Club awarded $1,000 scholarships at its June meeting to eight Westchester High School students bound for college.

The scholarship recipients were Jaime Franklin, Jessica Jordan, Erica Beckles, Jahaya Terrell, Dimple Bhatt, Randi Burley, Jacquenes Polle and Edika Ohubah.

The Woman’s Club holds its monthly general membership meeting on the third Thursday of each month at a private room in Tony P’s restaurant in Marina del Rey.

In addition to the monthly membership meeting, the club holds section meetings for the following groups:

ï Literature, the first Monday of the month, at the El Segundo Library;

ï Home and Garden, at various members’ homes; and

ï Knit and Stitch, the third Monday of the month, at the Congregational Church of the Messiah in Westchester.

The club continues its philanthropy with annual gifts to students of local high schools, several public grade and middle schools and local service organizations in the community, including the Airport Marina Counseling Service and Los Angeles International Airport Flight Path Museum.
