Los Angeles City Councilman Bill Rosendahl is encouraging young people in the local area who have an interest in government and want to help serve their community to join his 11th District Youth Council.
Youths between the ages of 11 and 18 from communities such as Venice, Del Rey, Mar Vista, Playa del Rey, Playa Vista and Westchester can join the 11th District Youth Council to advise Rosendahl on youth issues.
The councilman said the group provides a great learning experience and a forum for civic engagement in Los Angeles.
As a member of the Youth Council, participants will have the opportunity to:
— advance a vision for youths in the city’s strategic plan;
— create opportunities for youth involvement in the community;
— gain valuable leadership and organizational skills;
— learn and share ideas directly with Rosendahl; and
— make a difference in the community, as well as have some fun.
The next meeting for young people interested in joining the council is scheduled Thursday, September 11th, in the West Los Angeles Municipal Building, 1645 Corinth Ave., Suite 201, West Los Angeles.
