Sixteen Santa Monica College (SMC) students have been recognized for achievements both in the classroom and in their respective sports as 2008-09 Student Athletes of the Year.

Awards to the diverse group of students – some of whom have overcome major life challenges – were presented at the annual awards breakfast sponsored by the SMC General Advisory Board, a community support group, Thursday, May 21st in the SMC Pavilion, 1900 Pico Blvd.

The students who were honored in each sport and their coaches are:

– Women’s Basketball:

– Women’s Cross Country:
