Four local elementary schools have joined forces with the Del Rey Neighborhood Council to organize a 5k run/walk to help raise money for enrichment programs, equipment and books, including but not limited to health, fitness, technology and campus beautification.
The run/walk begins at 8 a.m. Sunday, November 19th, at Playa del Rey Elementary School, 12221 Juniette St., Del Rey.
Braddock Drive Elementary and Stoner Avenue Elementary Schools are raising funds for their Healthy Start Programs.
Playa del Rey Elementary School is raising funds for technology and Short Avenue Elementary School for a new library.
The Care 5k Fun Run/Walk is presented by the Community Annual Race for Education (CARE) and Venice Complex Healthy Start.
Registration is $25 and participants receive a free T-shirt and goody bag. Participants can register online or at 6:30 a.m. the morning of the race.
As participants in the race, children as young as age four are asking community supporters to commit any monetary amount for every mile the child completes.
Awards will be given to the top male and female overall as well as the top three finishers in each division.
Race presenters are also asking locals and businesses to purchase exhibit space or become an event sponsor.
