An 82-year-old Santa Monica man died Thursday, December 17th, two days after he was hit by a vehicle while walking across a Santa Monica intersection, police said.
The man, who has not been identified, was crossing in an unmarked crosswalk at 18th Street and California Avenue at about 11:50 a.m. December 15th, when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on California, Sgt. Jay Trisler said.
The pedestrian was walking eastbound across the street and was hit as the driver, a resident of Torrance, was turning left, Trisler said.
The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries two days later, Trisler said.
The driver was interviewed by police at the scene and released.
The Santa Monica Police Department is investigating the cause of the collision.
