Los Angeles airport commissioners awarded a contract to NSA Construction Group of Tarzana for $937,200 Monday, February 7th, to cover sound insulation modifications on 64 single- and multi-family residences in the City of Los Angeles near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
With the new contract, the total number of homes completed or in the process of soundproofing construction will be 4,246.
Soundproofing construction is free to property owners and homeowners.
The residences will be retrofitted with dual-pane windows, solid-core doors, attic insulation and other modifications.
The noise mitigation program includes nearly 9,000 residences in the Los Angeles communities of Westchester, Playa del Rey and South Los Angeles that have a recorded community noise equivalency level of 65 decibels or higher.
The program is administered by the LAX Residential Soundproofing Bureau.
Soundproofed model homes in Playa del Rey and South Los Angeles are open to visitors by appointment.
A community office at 8939 Sepulveda Blvd., Westchester is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
