Actor Chris Penn, brother of Oscar Award-winning actor Sean Penn, was found dead inside his oceanside home in Santa Monica Tuesday, January 24th.

Santa Monica police were called to a four-story condominium complex in the 1000 block of Ocean Avenue at 4:02 p.m. and found the body of Chris Penn, 43, in his bed, police said.

Preliminary investigation has revealed no obvious signs of foul play, Santa Monica Police Lt. Frank Fabrega said.

County coroner’s officials will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Penn was born in Los Angeles on June 10, 1962.

He was the son of the late director Leo Penn and actress Eileen Ryan, and the brother of actors Sean and Matthew, and musician Michael.

Mara Buxbaum, Sean Penn’s publicist, issued a statement saying, “The Penn family would appreciate the media’s respect of their privacy during this difficult time.”

Chris Penn received his film breakthrough in 1983 in Francis Ford Coppola’s Rumble Fish.

Among his other film credits are Footloose, Reservoir Dogs, Rush Hour and Mulholland Falls.
