The Westchester-Emerson Community Adult School is offering an evening pharmacy technician class that meets from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday for ten months beginning Monday, November 27th.
Westchester-Emerson, located at 8810 Emerson Ave., Westchester, is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District Division of Adult and Career Education.
The pharmacy technician program and its instructional staff are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
Students will have the opportunity to serve as interns at pharmacies and hospitals, and will be awarded a certificate of program completion upon graduation.
The certificate of program completion qualifies individuals to apply for the California State Board of Pharmacy exam. Passing the exam allows graduates to register and obtain a license to practice as a pharmacy technician.
School officials said that Westchester-Emerson pharmacy technician students have a 97 percent pass rate and are generally placed in the workforce immediately.
