The City of Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners has approved a $374,447 contract for the purchase of 17 compact sedans that operate on compressed natural gas (CNG) for use at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Ontario International Airport (ONT).

Fourteen of the new vehicles will replace similar units that airport officials say have reached the end of their useful life.

The remaining three new vehicles will be used by the LAX Residential Soundproofing Division and Construction and Maintenance Divisions at LAX and ONT.
