Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners Vice President Valeria Velasco and UPS President Noel Massie have been selected to lead this year’s World Trade Week efforts, the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce has announced.
Velasco, a Playa del Rey attorney, will serve as chair, and Massie as vice chair of the committee that will oversee World Trade Week, which includes more than 30 events, briefings and activities to help raise awareness about the economic opportunities in global trade. The event is an initiative of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
According to the chamber, the committee represents one of Southern California’s most important entry points for global trade as well as one of the region’s most important private industry organizations involved in international commerce.
“Valeria and Noel will be a highly effective combination and will provide exactly the type of leadership and insight required to produce world-class international trade programming for our region,” L.A. Area Chamber Senior Vice President Carlos Valderrama said. “Already established as the preeminent global trade event, we look forward to taking World Trade Week to even greater heights this year.”
World Trade Week is dedicated to educating the public on the importance of global trade and its contribution to the local, state and national economy.
The initiative is celebrated throughout the month of May with more than 30 events hosted by partnering organizations in Southern California that are jumpstarted by the chamber’s annual World Trade Week Kickoff Breakfast with more than 500 guests.
