The Supergirl Jam, a large-scale, all-girls action sports competition featuring more than 100 female athletes in snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing and inline skating, will come to Venice Beach Sunday, September 6th.
The event features three action sports contests — the Skateboard Street competition, Inline Skating Best Trick contest and the Snowboard Rail Jam. The event is free for spectators to attend.
The competition will also be televised on several networks this fall, including CBS Sports, FUEL TV and Fox Sports Net. Other competitions, including the Supergirl Pro Junior Surfing Contest in Oceanside and the Supergirl Pro-Am Jam Skateboard Street competition in Woodward West, were held last month.
As part of the Venice contest, 80,000 pounds of snow will be blown onto the rail jam course at the beach where skaters will be hitting several custom-built obstacles constructed especially for the event by the producers of the course for the LG Action Sports World Championships.
The athletes are competing for more than $35,000 in prize money, in support of female empowerment, independence, strength and leadership, event organizers said.
“The Supergirl Jam serves as a platform for the embodiment of female strength and leadership through action sports and a celebration of the iconic Supergirl S-Shield,” said Karen McTier, executive vice president of Domestic Licensing and Worldwide Marketing, Warner Bros. Consumer Products. “We are thrilled to be hosting our third annual event and we applaud the athletes as they inspire young women everywhere with their skill, intelligence, independence and overall passion.”
The Supergirl Jam will also feature a demonstration by some of the world’s best inline skaters competing for a $2,000 prize for best trick.
