The American Red Cross Santa Monica chapter will hold its “Red Tie Affair” annual fundraiser Saturday, April 17th at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel, 101 Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica.
Doors will open at 5 p.m. for this year’s event, which salutes nursing.
The Red Tie Affair features fine dining, music, live and silent auctions and entertainment. Funds raised will go to the American Red Cross of Santa Monica in support of its programs and services to the community.
Red Tie Award honorees include actress, writer, producer and director Jada Pinkett Smith and her nursing-driven medical drama “HawthoRNe,” which will air its second season on TNT this summer. Smith will receive the American Red Cross Crystal Cross award at the gala.
The Rick Crocker Spirit of Volunteerism Award, named after the Santa Monica police officer who was killed while fighting in Iraq, will be presented to registered nurse Barbara Browning. Browning has served as a nurse at Santa Monica/UCLA Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital for 45 years.
Celebrity chef, author and TV show host Nick Stellino will once again supervise the preparation of a three-course, gourmet dinner created especially for the event. Award-winning KTTV Fox 11 News anchor Christine Devine is the master of ceremonies for the gala for the third year in a row.
Among the auction items up for bid are jewelry, exotic vacations, limited edition wines, art, sports and Hollywood memorabilia and designer dresses.
