Anita Varghese has been named news editor of The Argonaut, effective Saturday, October 1st.
She joined The Argonaut in March 2004 as a reporter and has been reporting on the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, the Los Angeles Unified School District, Santa Monica College, Loyola Marymount University, the City of Santa Monica, and local political news.
Previously, she was a general news reporter and copy editor for the Houston Chronicle, a daily newspaper in Houston, Texas.
Varghese was also a writing lab instructor, newsletter writer and editor, publicist, and special events planner.
She received a master’s degree in journalism from the University of North Texas and a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Houston.
A native of Houston, she lived in the Dallas area for three years before moving to Los Angeles in 2003.
