Ann Hastings, a Santa Monica resident, has been elected to a two-year term on the board of directors of Toastmasters International, a worldwide nonprofit organization that teaches skills in public speaking and leadership.
Hastings has held a number of leadership positions within the organization for more than ten years.
She spent 40 years working for corporations before retiring in 2000 and now sits on the board of the real estate company HRD Management.
She also teaches professionals to overcome their fear of public speaking in courses offered by UCLA Extension, and is vice president of fundraising for the John Douglas French Alzheimer’s Foundation.
Toastmasters International estimates that the organization has 211,000 members in 10,500 local clubs in 90 countries.
