Caesura, a new exhibition featuring the work of Doni Silver Simons and four other artists, will be on view at the Anneneberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica beginning Thursday, Nov. 8 through Feb. 8.
An opening reception is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 8 at the beach house, 415 Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Monica.
Curated by Maya Lujan, the exhibit showcases paintings by Silver Simons, a Los Angeles artist, as well as works by Santa Monica painter Julia Schwartz, Melinda Smith Altshuler, Aleve Mei Loh and Om Navon Bleicher.
“A Caesura is a pause or gesture used to emphasize the formal metrical construction of a line,” says Lujan.
“The artists’ works seriously deal with painterly and sculptural issues in the realm of Caesura, or the in-between something formal or structural. With this is the tendency to make abstractions, or formations between spaces, either through concept or material.”
Caesura is a program of Beach=Culture, an ongoing series of cultural programs at the Annenberg Community Beach House.
Admission is free and parking is $4 per hour.
