The Inn at Playa del Rey will have its annual holiday open house and tea to benefit the Airport Marina Counseling Service between 1:30 and 5 p.m. Monday, December 6th.
The inn is at 435 Culver Blvd., Playa del Rey.
The Airport Marina Counseling Service provides low-cost counseling service to those in need. The center has been counseling almost 500 persons a week since it opened more than 40 years ago.
The center recently opened a children’s center and now offers child and adolescent counseling.
Children may be referred to the Airport Marina Counseling Service by a teacher or brought to the clinic by a parent.
“Last year, generous open house guests donated more than $2,500 worth of ‘wishes’,” said Playa del Rey inn owner Susan Zolla.
“The shelves in the children’s rooms at the clinic are full of new toys, including special therapy puppets, a doll house and art supplies.
“The Airport Marina Counseling Service was able to partially fund counseling services for those in need, update computer equipment and continue to train new therapists,” Zolla said.
The Inn at Playa del Rey will be asking those who attend the Monday open house and tea to donate to an Airport Marina Counseling Service “wish” of the donor’s choice.
Holiday baking and decorating for the open house and tea are already under way, Zolla said.
The inn owner said the Monday event is designed to be “an old-fashioned holiday tea with a special emphasis on giving.”
“Anyone who is unable to attend the tea is more than welcome to stop by with their gift, tour the newly decorated inn and leave with baked goods, a complimentary Bed and Breakfast Guide Book and a chance to win a free night at either the Inn at Playa del Rey or the Channel Road Inn, which will have its annual tea from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 5th,” Zolla said.
The Channel Road Inn is at 219 W. Channel Road, Santa Monica.
