The city of Santa Monica’s annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, featuring a carnival and classic car show, will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 1 at Virginia Avenue Park, 2200 Virginia Ave.
The carnival at this year’s fiesta will include rides and game booths for all ages and the car show will exhibit classic cars from all eras, an event spokesperson said.
Entertainment will again be provided by salsa band Bombachante, and the mariachi group Estrella de Jalisco, along with folklorico and Aztec dance performances.
The master of ceremonies is performance artist Maria Elena Gaitan, who will give humorous commentary on the historical significance of the event. The festival will also include artisan vendors and traditional Mexican foods and treats.
Visitors are encouraged to walk, bike or take the Big Blue Bus event shuttle from Santa Monica College, as parking is limited.
