A Santa Monica couple, described by the Red Cross as elderly, that was displaced after a fire broke out at their home early Wednesday, January 30th, has received assistance from the Santa Monica chapter of the American Red Cross.
Santa Monica firefighters were called at 1 a.m. to the couple’s home in the 1000 block of Euclid Street, where a fire was reported. Firefighters confined the blaze to a second-floor bedroom and no other apartments were damaged in the six-unit building.
The Santa Monica Red Cross chapter was asked to provide shelter and other assistance to the couple. Mark Solnick, the chapter’s director of emergency preparedness and response, accompanied the couple into their apartment where they recovered some personal property.
The chapter helped put the couple up for a couple of days at a local hotel and has provided a client assistance debit card.
