Santa Monica College is (SMC) seeking applications for the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee, which oversees the implementation of Measure U and Measure S.
Measure U (2002) and Measure S (2004) are bond measures that are funding capital improvement projects at the college.
The application deadline is Friday, June 2nd.
The vacancies are specifically for a Malibu resident and a representative of one of the college’s support organizations such as the SMC General Advisory Board or SMC Associates.
Applications are also welcomed from representatives of Santa Monica neighborhoods.
To qualify for an appointment, an applicant must be at least 18 years old, must not be a college employee or official, and must not be a vendor, contractor, or consultant to the college.
The SMC board of trustees will review all applications and make the final appointments.
Applications are available by calling (310) 434-4402 or at www.smc.edu /admin/trustees /CitizensBond OversightCommi tee/default.htm
The committee was established in spring 2002, as required by state law, to oversee the implementation of Measure U, the $160 million bond passed by 70 percent of Santa Monica and Malibu voters.
The committee’s responsibility was expanded to include oversight of Measure S, which passed in November 2004.
The bond measures are funding various projects, including replacement buildings, seismic retrofitting, safety and technology upgrades.
