The deadline to submit applications for the position of Santa Monica College president is Friday, September 30th.

In its search for a new president to replace Piedad Robertson, who resigned in January, the college has been recruiting for candidates nationwide.

Tom Donner has been serving as interim president since the Robertson resignation.

Mailings and e-mail lists were sent and advertising was placed in a variety of publications.

The Presidential Search Committee of college employees, students, Santa Monica community members, and Malibu community members has established a tentative schedule for the next steps in the process, contingent on an adequate pool of qualified candidates.

In October, the committee plans to screen applications and interview candidates. The committee will then select three to five candidates to be forwarded to the college Board of Trustees.

Monday through Friday, November 14th to 18th, one finalist each day will come to campus for open public forums and closed-door interviews with trustees.

The new president could be announced as early as Monday, December 5th, when a regularly scheduled board of trustees meeting is scheduled.

Robertson resigned in January to become president of the Denver-based Education Commission of the States.
