The Argonaut has been recognized by the Association of California School Administrators Region XVI with its award for “Outstanding Media Coverage of Public Education.”

The association, said to be the largest umbrella organization for school leaders in the nation, serving more than 16,000 school leaders, presented the award to The Argonaut during a dinner ceremony in Los Angeles Thursday, May 28th.

The recognition comes after the newspaper has covered wide-ranging issues in the Los Angeles Unified and Santa Monica-Malibu Unified school districts during the previous year, including a payroll debacle affecting LAUSD; proposed layoffs of LAUSD school employees; parent, teacher and student activities protesting proposed layoffs; and the ongoing autonomy effort at Westchester schools.

The Argonaut news department staff is proud of the honor and thanks the Association of California School Administrators for the recognition.
