The Arlington West Memorial, which is on the beach next to the Santa Monica Pier every Sunday, needs volunteers.

Arlington West is a Veterans for Peace project honoring American soldiers who have died in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Beginning at 7:30 a.m. every Sunday, crosses and displays are put in place. They are taken down approximately one hour before dusk.

Memorial keepers say the size of the memorial continues to grow “as the wars go on” and the need for volunteers grows as well.

People interested in volunteering can stop by the memorial on any Sunday to donate their services or call (323) 934-3451.
