An art auction featuring works by local artists will be held Saturday, March 27th to raise funds for art and music programs at Venice Lutheran School.

Venice Lutheran officials say that the school hopes to boost its commitment to a strong arts and music curriculum and has received help from prominent local artists.

The art auction was organized to help improve the 60-year-old K-8 school’s contributions in Venice’s world renown arts community, an event spokesperson said.

Long known for combining Christian education in a safe and caring environment with high academic standards, Venice Lutheran recently changed its name, having formerly been First Lutheran School of Venice.

The event entitled “An Evening of Art and Music” will be held at Bradford Stewart’s art studio in Culver City. Stewart, a Venice Lutheran School parent, is an abstract painter living and working in Los Angeles.

A fundraising auction of art pieces from local artists and other high-ticket items, including “wish list” items needed by the school, will be featured, along with dancing and music.

Venice Lutheran officials say the goal for the event is to raise $20,000 for the school, and to garner between 100 and 150 attendees.
