The Pico Youth and Family Center of Santa Monica has scheduled its Second Annual Art For Hearts fundraiser at the Annenberg Community Beach House, 415 Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Monica, Thursday, Feb. 10.
The event will feature special guests Danny Trejo, star of the film Machete and Jesse Borrego, star of La Mission.
The Art For Hearts fundraiser will include a silent auction of creatively-crafted hearts and other artworks by up-and-coming youth artists as well as by established artists including Danny Alonzo, Michael Amescua, William Attaway, Judy Baca, Barbara Carrasco, Alex Kizu, Ernie Lucero, JC Hernandez Munoz, Ernesto Yerena and others. The evening will be rounded off with live jazz, food and drinks.
Since opening in 2002, the Pico Youth and Family Center, a Santa Monica nonprofit organization, has served hundreds of at-risk youth on the Westside by providing case management, counseling, tutoring, computer training, job readiness preparation, and music production training. The center is described as the only non-profit in the region with services specifically targeting youth ages 16 to 24 that are most at risk – including those who are failing academically, are not in school, or are on probation.
The Pico Youth and Family Center has organized the Art For Hearts fundraiser to help meet the costs associated with serving at-risk youth.
