is to be fall lecturer and resident at Otis College

Artist Mark Dean Veca is to be the fall 2008 Jennifer Howard Coleman distinguished lecturer and resident in the Otis College of Art and Design Fine Arts Department from September 20th to November 14th, the college’s Ben Maltz Gallery has announced.

An internationally acclaimed artist and Otis alumnus, Veca will be working with students and conducting one-on-one critiques with senior and graduate level painting students, and presenting a free public lecture about his work during his residency, according to an Otis College source.

An exhibition of Veca’s work is to open October 11th. On view through December 6th, Veca’s solo exhibition will introduce a new large-scale site-specific painting installation and is curated by Meg Linton, director of the Ben Maltz Gallery and public programs.

Veca currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. He is renowned for creating paintings, drawings and installations that portray surreal cartoons, psychedelic landscapes, and pop culture iconography while also being inspired by long-established decorative motifs, said Otis officials.
