Museum directors will examine the past and future of Asian Americans at a free panel discussion at 7 p.m. Friday, May 5th, in the Santa Monica College (SMC) Concert Hall, 1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica.

Santa Monica College has scheduled the event to celebrate Asian/Pacific Islander Heritage month.

Titled “Asian Americana: Exploring the Past, Looking to the Future,” the event will feature Pauline Wong, interim executive director of the Chinese American Museum in Los Angeles; Daphne Kwok, director of the Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation in San Francisco; and Sojin Kim, curator of the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles.

The discussion will be moderated by SMC history professor Lesley Kawaguchi.

The panel discussion is sponsored by the SMC History Department and SMC Associates, a private organization that funds speakers and special programs on campus.
