Candidates for the California Assembly 53rd District are scheduled to attend a candidate forum at a meeting of the West Los Angeles Democratic Club in Venice Thursday, February 4th.

The forum will begin at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m., at the Venice Center for Peace with Justice and the Arts, 2210 Lincoln Blvd. Admission is free and free street and lot parking is available.

Candidates who are expected to appear include Kate Anderson, Betsy Butler, Nick Karno, James Lau, Edgar Saenz, Peter Thottam and Mitch Ward. Current 53rd District Assemblyman Ted Lieu will moderate the forum.

Following a question and answer period, the West L.A. Democratic Club will vote to endorse a candidate. Members who are eligible to vote must have been a club member for 30 days and have 2010 dues up to date.

The club will also hold its officer elections at the meeting.
