State Assemblyman Ted Lieu filed his official paperwork to run for state attorney general Monday, March 15th.
Lieu, a military prosecutor and former city councilman from Torrance, has been campaigning up and down California for nearly a year.
“When I am elected attorney general, I will continue to be a champion of public safety, consumer protection, the environment and social justice,” Lieu said in a statement.
Lieu’s 53rd Assembly District includes Marina del Rey, Playa del Rey and portions of Venice and Westchester.
The assemblyman’s campaign slogan is “Standing Up to Powerful Interests.”
His work on financial and mortgage reform, public safety and correctional policies has made headlines throughout the state, a campaign spokesman said.
