Playa del Rey resident Samantha Grant, a partner in the Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP law firm’s labor and employment division, has been selected as one of the “10 Top Up-and-Coming African-American Lawyers to Watch” by the Minority Corporate Council Association.
Grant was one of ten attorneys selected from a pool of 100 African-American lawyers nominated by senior attorneys who appeared on Black Enterprise magazine’s 2003 list of “America’s Top Black Lawyers.”
Minority Corporate Council staff reviewed the credentials of each nominee and sought other information available from public records.
As part of the process, researchers and fact-checkers examined experience, significant cases and transactions, service to clients and community service.
“We congratulate Samantha on being selected as one of the top ten young African-American lawyers to watch,” said Thomas Lambert, managing partner of Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp.
“Her selection by the Minority Corporate Council Association speaks volumes to her talent and ability and the esteem she holds with her peers.”
In her practice, Grant advises, arbitrates and litigates on behalf of employers in labor and employment matters, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour, unfair com- petition and unfair labor practice charges, according to Lambert.
She frequently speaks at American Bar Association annual and midwinter meetings, and holds leadership positions in the association, he said.
She also serves on the boards of the Black Women Lawyers Association and the John M. Langston Bar Association, and is a member of Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp’s committees on hiring and diversity.
