Audrey Nichols Waldron, a former Westchester and Playa del Rey resident, died Friday, December 23rd, in Aptos in northern California, where she had lived for the past 22 years. She was 83.
Waldron was walking her dog Monday, December 19th, when she was hit by a car. She was taken to the Regional Medical Center of San Jose, where she died four days later.
She was born in San Bernardino March 2nd, 1922.
Waldron raised her family in Westchester and Playa del Rey, where she lived from 1948 to 1983, prior to moving to Aptos.
She was a secretary for seven years and a Realtor for ten years with Kent Realty in Westchester and Playa del Rey.
She liked to travel, and went most recently to Europe, Africa and Alaska.
She was closely involved with her meditation group, The Infinite Way, a raw food group and a hiking group, in which she developed many friendships.
Gardening, cooking, reading, walking her dog, attending local musicals and learning to keep up with the rapid rate of technology were among her favorite activities.
Waldron also donated much of her time as a volunteer at Henry Cowell State Park, the Grey Bears and a hospice.
She is survived by her four sons, Bill of Capitola, Bob and Jon of Westchester and Jim of Ventura; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Raylene, Whitney, Chad, Piper, Andrew, Iris, Corey, and one great-grandson, Adam.
Her son Donn preceded her in death.
A memorial service for Waldron is scheduled Saturday, January 14th, at 1 p.m. at the Congregational Church of Soquel, 4951 Soquel Drive, Aptos. A reception is scheduled to follow.
