The Ballona Creek Renaissance has unanimously appointed Michele Bigelow to its board of directors.

The nonprofit organization, which is dedicated to facilitating the long-term renewal of Ballona Creek and its watershed, made the appointment at its December meeting.

A Culver City resident and former active member of the Ballona Creek Renaissance Advisory Council, Bigelow has a long history of volunteering and working for local environmental organizations, including the Ballona Wetlands Land Trust.

She enjoys walking, bicycling and working to improve the creek and watershed bikeways.

Bigelow said she looks forward to assisting on a green space planning project, grant writing, and ongoing volunteer native plant garden care and creek cleanup efforts.

“In addition to her excellent qualifications, I really appreciate Michele’s shared interest in listening to and working with all stakeholders,” Ballona Creek Renaissance President Jim Lamm said.

The group’s next Ballona Creek cleanup at Centinela Avenue is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 21.
