In high school baseball games:
The Westchester High School Comets scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to finish with a 5-5 tie against Bell High School in the RBI/Chet Brewer tournament Monday, April 2nd.
The Comets (7-5-1, 3-1) took the early lead with two runs in the first inning, but Bell added three runs in the fourth inning to take its first lead at 4-3 before Westchester came back to even the score.
Westchester, which finished with seven hits to five for Bell, will next host Palisades High in a Western League game at 3 p.m. Monday, April 9th.
The Venice High School Gondoliers lost 2-1 to Taft High School of Woodland Hills in the RBI Easter tournament Monday, April 2nd.
It was the fourth consecutive loss for the Gondos (6-6, 1-3) since opening Western League play with a 7-6 victory over Westchester March 22nd.
Venice will next play against Van Nuys High in the Easter tournament at noon Thursday, April 5th.
The Santa Monica High School Vikings were defeated 13-4 by Capistrano Valley High of Mission Viejo in the RBI/Chet Brewer tournament Saturday, March 31st.
The two teams were tied 0-0 at the end of the first inning, but Capistrano Valley scored in each of the next six innings to pick up the victory over the Vikings (7-4,1-0).
Santa Monica, which was outhit in the game 12-8, will next play Alhambra High in the RBI tournament at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 5th.
The St. Bernard High School Vikings lost 3-2 to host Cathedral High School in a Camino Real League game Monday, April 2nd.
The Vikings (3-8, 3-3) will next play Maranatha High of Pasadena in a non-league game at 11 a.m. Monday, April 9th.
The St. Monica High School Mariners picked up their first Del Rey League victory of the season with a 4-2 win over visiting Bishop Montgomery High Friday, March 30th.
The Mariners (4-7, 1-5) scored two runs in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead and held on for victory after adding another run in the fifth inning.
Brandon Tobin finished with three RBIs (runs batted in) to lead the Mariners, who finished with eight hits in the game.
St. Monica will next play Salesian High in a non-league game at 11 a.m. Monday, April 9th.
In high school SOFTball games:
The Westchester High School Comets earned a third consecutive Western League victory with a 3-0 win over visiting L.A. CES Friday, March 30th.
The two teams were tied 0-0 after the first four innings but the Comets (8-7, 4-1) scored a run in the fifth and two more runs in the sixth inning to take the victory.
Westchester will next play at Palisades High School in a league game at 3 p.m. Monday, April 9th.
The Venice High School Gondoliers racked up 23 hits to earn a dominating 20-2 Western League victory over L.A. CES Thursday, March 29th.
Michelle Aver led the Gondos (11-2-1, 5-0) with six RBIs in the game and Emerald Mancilla and Sandra McCaw each added four RBIs. Pitcher Danielle Mestas finished with seven strikeouts for Venice.
The Gondos will next face visiting Hamilton High in a league game at 3 p.m. Monday, April 9th.
The Santa Monica High School Vikings scored in each of the first five innings to earn a 10-0 shutout over Boca Raton of Florida in a five-inning game Friday, March 30th.
The Vikings (14-2, 2-0) finished with 12 hits to five in the game for Boca Raton.
The St. Monica High School Mariners earned a 9-3 Camino Real League victory over the visiting St. Bernard High School Vikings Monday, April 2nd.
Tiffany Ramirez finished with three RBIs and scored two runs to lead the Mariners (4-7,1-0) over the Vikings (4-7-1, 2-1). Danielle Cullen finished with two runs scored for St. Monica.
Ramirez also finished with eight strikeouts in five innings pitched for St. Monica.
