A fundraising cruise to assist in the medical needs of an 11-month-old girl is planned by the girl’s aunt, Cheryl Appleman, between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Saturday, November 13th, aboard the Shoreliner boat in Marina del Rey.

Hailey Cayo was born in December 2003 with a severe heart condition called Ebstein’s anomaly, which carries with it a high mortality rate.

The child underwent life-saving heart surgery when she was three days old and has had two more heart surgeries and many corrective surgeries.

Hailey remained hospitalized for the first eight months of her life and has only recently gone home.

Hailey has a tracheostomy connected to a ventilator and requires daily medical supervision, Appleman says.

“Hailey is getting stronger all the time,” her aunt says. “She is beautiful, so alert and happy.

“She is a survivor.”

Local businesses have donated prizes and services, which will be raffled off during the cruise.

Event tickets are a $30 cash donation per person. Live acoustic music by the local band nNeptep is planned.

Boarding will begin at 4 p.m. at Fisherman’s Village, 13755 Fiji Way, Marina del Rey.
