Los Angeles police are seeking the public’s help in locating a driver wanted in connection with a hit and run collision in Playa del Rey that left a 32-year-old bicyclist dead early July 4.

George Loudon was riding his bicycle northbound on Vista del Mar, just south of Hyperion Way, at about 2:25 a.m., when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle travelling northbound on Vista del Mar, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson said.

Loudon, whom police believe was heading home from work, suffered fatal injuries when the car hit the rear of his bicycle, the LAPD spokesperson said.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the location and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

After striking Loudon, the driver of the vehicle allegedly left the scene without rendering aid or identifying himself or herself as required by law, police said.

The incident remains under investigation by LAPD West Traffic detectives.
