A pedestrian was killed after a Santa Monica Big Blue Bus turned a corner and struck her at Ocean Avenue and Pico Boulevard shortly before 8 a.m. Friday, April 29th.

Police say the bus was moving westbound on Pico Boulevard and stopped for a red light at Ocean Avenue.

When the traffic signal for westbound traffic turned green, the bus waited for a pedestrian who was headed westbound to cross the street, police said.

After the pedestrian had crossed, the Blue Bus made a right turn and struck another pedestrian, police said.

The pedestrian was seriously injured and was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.

The driver of the Santa Monica Blue Bus was interviewed at the scene and released pending further investigation by police.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
