THE SANTA MONICA BIG BLUE BUS unveiled its holiday-themed bus on November 30th. This year’s sponsor is Cirque du Soleil and its KOOZA production.

The Big Blue Bus of Santa Monica rolled out its fully wrapped holiday bus November 28th, just in time for the holiday season.

This year’s sponsor is Cirque du Soleil’s production of KOOZA, which has performances next to the Santa Monica Pier, and the buses will reflect the show’s vibrant colors and spirit, Big Blue Bus officials said.

“The design of this year’s bus is just spectacular, a real head turner, and we think people are going to love it,” said Big Blue Bus Customer Relations Manager Dan Dawson. “We have so many people tell us they take pictures in front of the decorated bus every year with their families and friends, so the holiday bus has really become quite a nice tradition in the area.”

The festively wrapped 40-foot-long, clean fuel bus will take a different route each day around the Big Blue Bus service area to ensure as many people as possible get a chance to see it and/or ride it during the holidays, bus agency officials said.

This year’s new design features a major character of the KOOZA show poised against a backdrop of vivid purple, snowflakes and brightly wrapped red presents. The tagline states, “There has never been a better time to dream.”

Cirque du Soleil chartered the holiday bus for a special promotional tour around Los Angeles on November 27th. According to tour management, KOOZA-themed representatives passed out candy canes and holiday cards promoting the holiday production of KOOZA, which is taking place until Sunday, December 20th.

The Big Blue Bus transports more than 80,000 passengers a day around its large service area, which includes Santa Monica, Culver City, downtown Los Angeles, Mar Vista, Marina del Rey, Playa del Rey, Playa Vista, Venice and Westchester.

The holiday bus will remain in service throughout the season until January 4th.
