Santa Monica resident Kim Vamos has been honored with the Trailblazer Award from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles.
Vamos, a longtime Big Brothers Big Sisters guild member, was one of several honorees who were recognized at the organization’s annual Rising Stars Gala Oct. 26 in Beverly Hills.
Awards recognized individuals who are inspiring and positive role models for young people, according to the organization. Big Brothers Big Sisters works to help children in need reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships
The gala featured performances by Emmy and Golden Globe nominated singer/actor Lea Michele, as well as Amber Riley and Darren Criss, best known for their roles on the award-winning television show GLEE. Singer/songwriter Jensen McRae also performed.
The gala was hosted by KTLA’s Allie MacKay.
More than $700,000 was raised to benefit the organization and support its life-changing programs, according to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles.
