Iman Abdelaziz and Mohamed Hassan of Playa del Rey recently opened a franchise of Seniors Helping Seniors to serve Westside and South Bay communities. The business employs able-bodied seniors to help care for other local seniors who need some extra help around the house, allowing older adults to remain in their homes rather than prematurely enter assisted living care. Three Twins Ice Cream has opened a new location at 2726 Main St. in Santa Monica. Villa Italian Restaurant will shutter in mid-July after 65 years of serving meals at 3971 Sepulveda Blvd. in Culver City. The family restaurant is being purchased by another operator who will operate with a different name and menu, said owner Faye Bagheri, who contacted The Argonaut to extend a heartfelt goodbye to loyal customers. Despite a community campaign to save it, Pepy’s Galley at AMF Mar Vista Lanes closed for good on Sunday after 44 years in operation to make way for bowling alley renovations. Organizers of the Save Pepy’s Facebook page raised $3,800 in cash and $900 in online pledges for the restaurant’s 20 employees.

Ford’s Filling Station in Culver City, reputed to be the first gastropub in L.A., closed Sunday after eight years in business.
