Photographer and Santa Monica College (SMC) instructor Blue Fier is scheduled to appear at a free class at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 19th, at the Fairview Branch of the Santa Monica Public Library, 2101 Ocean Park Blvd., Santa Monica.

Fier will instruct attendees on how to improve photography composition techniques, how to make pictures tell a story, and how to shoot under difficult lighting and weather conditions.

Fier, a professional photographer for over 25 years, will share the secrets of traveling on the road and working as a professional.

He has shot for Travel and Leisure magazine, several French airlines, cruise lines and numerous clients who have taken him to many exotic locales.

He has photographed from a helicopter hanging over world-class resorts in Lanai, Hawaii, climbed frozen peaks to capture the environmental cleanup of an Air Force jet crash in the Colorado Rockies, and dodged grizzly bears shooting a fashion campaign in the wilds of Alaska, a spokesman says.

Fier currently teaches at Santa Monica College between assignments.
