The bludgeoned body of a 50-year-old woman was found near the Venice Beach Boardwalk early Sunday, February 12th, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Pacific Community police said.

LAPD Pacific Community officers were called to the 1900 block of Speedway at 8:45 a.m., where the woman’s body was found on the sidewalk, LAPD Pacific Detective Tim Grimes said.

The woman, a possible transient in the area, was apparently bludgeoned to death, Grimes said.

The identity of the woman is being withheld pending notification of her family.

Police are investigating the death as a homicide, Grimes said.

There are currently no suspects in the death and the motive for the incident is unknown, police said.
