Summer events kick off at Playa Vista

One of the country’s hottest new boy bands, IM5 will make a special guest appearance at Visitation School’s Food Truck Friday Night event July 20. IM5 is scheduled to perform at 8:30 p.m., and following the performance, the band will be available to meet fans, pose for photos and sign autographs.

The event will be held at the school, 8740 S. Emerson Ave. in Westchester, from 5 to 10 p.m.

Food Truck Friday Night will include the convergence of more than 16 gourmet food trucks featuring a wide array of cuisine. Information, including food truck menus and photos, Take out is available at all trucks.

The event will also include a roller-skating rink, music, dancing, face-painting and a big screen movie – “The Little Mermaid” – will screen at 6 p.m.

In addition, Westchester’s Pure Play Band will perform beginning at 5 p.m.

Admission is free and free parking is available on the street or in the Emerson Adult School parking lot, 8810 S. Emerson Ave.

From Concerts in the Park to starry ‘Movies in the Moonlight,’ Playa Vista is again hosting a full summer of events for residents, friends, office campus tenants and surrounding neighbors. The Campus Central Park Bandshell, an iconic and dynamic venue, is hosting most of this year’s events due to planned renovations at popular Concert Park.

Summer 2012 also includes another “Shakespeare by the Sea” performance. Gourmet food trucks will make an appearance at select events as well.

Convenient shuttle service will run from The Shops at Concert Park to all Campus Central Park Bandshell events.

The schedule of summer events at Playa Vista includes:

Summer Concerts in the Park from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Central Park Bandshell on July 15 (DSB -a tribute to Journey) and July 29 (Pine Mountain Logs). Movies in the Park from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Central Park Bandshell on July 13 (“Ghostbusters”).

“Shakespeare by the Sea” from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Central Park Bandshell on July 22, featuring “Romeo and Juliet.” Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted.
