The Boys & Girls Club of Venice will hold its Sixth Annual Champion of Youth Gala at The Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey Friday, Sept. 30.
The gala will feature a silent and live auction with over 150 items ranging from trips to the Caribbean to autographed memorabilia. The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a reception and silent auction, followed by dinner and program at 7:30 p.m. at The Ritz-Carlton, 4375 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Venice.
During the event, the club will award the Champion of Youth Award to former board president and philanthropist Cathy Collins Hession, who currently serves as president and executive director of the Carol and James Collins Foundation.
She also serves on the Board of Trustees of Marlborough School, the Advisory Board of The Center on Philanthropy & Public Policy at the University of Southern California, the Advisory Board of Para Los Ninos Charter School and Board of Directors of Southern California Grantmakers. Hession has worked extensively with the Junior League of Los Angeles for more than 30 years.
“We are very excited to honor Cathy,” said current board president Julie Henley of Demand Media. “This event is a great way to support children and teens that need us to help guide them to a productive future.”
The club will additionally recognize DIRECTV with the Corporate Engagement Award for its extensive volunteer work with the Boys & Girls Club of Venice over the last three years.
Past honorees of the Champion of Youth Award have included UCLA men’s basketball Coach Ben Howland, Jaime and JoAnne Hepp of TEAM TAG, and Milton Swimmer of Swimmer Development.
