Venice Custom Bicycles is presenting The Venice X, formerly the Venice Custom Bicycles expo (VCB), at the Venice Beach basketball courts Saturday, September 19th.

The event is based on the concept of the original VCB, which was held the previous four years — “utilize one’s urban surroundings as an art form of expression and on a flat-ground freestyle battle zone,” an event spokesperson says.

The free event includes a BMX flat-ground freestyle contest and a break-dancing contest from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Ocean Front Walk basketball courts in Venice. A free community bicycle ride will begin at 1 p.m. at the north end of Dockweiler State Beach in Playa del Rey and end at Venice Beach.

Displays of custom bicycles will also be featured at the Venice event.

The expo is intended to benefit the fight against obesity and diabetes, a spokesperson said.
